No, one side passed healthcare reform legislation, the first major social reform of its kind since the 1960’s, and a move that would provide for the basic healthcare needs of tens of millions of Americans. The law was passed, see, and the other side fought it, and will continue to fight it,…

To say that this is offensive is an under statement, how dare they turn one of most influential venues in the world into a poncey overpriced designer clothes shop.

Sons of bitches remain sons of bitches even when they’re notionally your sons of bitches. In the end there’s a limit to how long you can support or tolerate them. Eventually the clock runs out on realpolitik. We may not be at that moment yet (there’ve been false dawns before) but some day we’ll reach it. God knows what the consequences will be and some of them are...

Apartment Management-Related Ranting
So, it would seem that our (mercifully-soon-to-be-former) building owners’ plan to deal with extensive water damage in one unit and slight-but-related water damage in the unit below is to IGNORE the problem but admonish those tenants for being careless in their water usage and to ask them to be more careful in the future.
Not investigate. Not even get estimates. Just… that.
I get...

Seriously, I haven’t blogged about anything substantial in a long time.
If any interested parties want to see how I write when given a writing prompt, please reply to this here entry with… well… a writing prompt.
No idea is too ridiculous. Seriously. Suggestion box is open. If your motivation is to stump me, that’s fine, too. I’m just looking for ideas.

Hey Look What I Did, Now Look Away
drinkingstory:
If you’re keeping score at home today marks 30 days since my last drink. It’s fair to say that I’m pleased with this accomplishment but I wouldn’t say I’m proud of it. I’d be happy to walk out of a burning building alive but I wouldn’t pat myself on the back for having the common sense to do so.
That said I guess I’ve accomplished something so as a treat to myself I won’t beat...
Musings on Music
Today on the way to work, Sexy Black iPod decided to play Cake’s “Walk on By” followed by R.E.M.’s “(Don’t Go Back to) Rockville.” I’m convinced that, if I owned the song and had it loaded on the iPod, it would have then played Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Gimme Three Steps.”
Speaking of music: I’m probably very late to the party on...
Excerpt from “Somewhere Over the Sun" →
Later, I heard them making love through the wooden wall separating their bedroom from the rest of their home. Their moans rushed in between the boards and paraded down the crack under their door. I could imagine the sweaty, slightly overweight spectacle. In my head, I explored all the beautiful places where they pressed against each other so tight that it was impossible to distinguish who the...

Dear Tumblr
oatmeal:
If you’re going to go down, you might as well blame it on an imaginary animal like Twitter did with their infamous Fail Whale. I’ve taken the liberty of creating this animal for you:
Please use it.

I sometimes think that folks that I know, if they think about an personality analogue that I have as regards characters in The Godfather and The Godfather 2, believe that I act like, by turns, Fredo and Sonny Corleone. Forever trying to prove how smart I am, failing, and getting irrationally mad about it.
Eh. That’s an oversimplification at best.
I’m not a Michael type, though, or a...
